too much?

Ok, so when I said I was in a January rut...it was true. You tell me, how in the world you decorate for the winter non-holiday season....when you live on a tropical Island...how? I would rather decorate my walls with caveman drawings than fall into the tropical mod-ish decorating style, so usually I go by my old home state of Tennessee and decorate according to their seasons...

After clearing my "clutter shelf" of all of it's Christmas decor, I let it sit empty and blank for a couple of weeks to pique inspiration. Didn't work. I'm typically cluttery girl by nature...but I'm not so sure I'm feeling this shelf....anybody got any ideas?

Aww shucks, thanks guys!...maybe I'll keep it then...I have these tacky Flamingo lawn ornaments that I have been DYING to cover in hot pink glitter wouldn't it be so much fun to have those sitting somewhere random in your house? well...maybe just fun to me lol!

OK, you don't know me (I clicked on you from Nester's comments...)

I think your shelf is pretty pretty! One thing you might change visually is the plate at the top...I don't know much (read: ANYthing) about design, but I do know there are triangles of design...and that top plate pulls the eye to far up and away from the rest. What if you tucked it a little more above or just off center right or left of the two below? And I love the cupcake stand, but since it's a single element (only metal thing on the shelf), I'd suggest pulling it more into the center as well for more of a focal. (But not dead center...nothing should be dead center in design, should it?)

BUT, having said any and all of this completely ambiguous dribble about such things that I know nothing of, I LOVE the cupcake and pink theme. I have that same cupcake stand...I never thought to use it in decorating. CLEVER!

oh, and PS --- those clothes you made are A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E.! What a great way to get the cupcake without the fancy embroidery machine! That's SO Melissa Lester (if you know her blog...) I'm going to have to try that...

Hey thanks! I've never heard of the triangle lol so that shows how much I know! hahaha...I'm going to try those tips because I'm not really that happy with my shelf right now and I think it definitely needs a little re-arranging...thanks!
